Boxing might have its Mega-Fight

Canelo Alvarez (48- 1 – 1, 34 KOs) and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) might finally meet before the end of the year. If both fighters win their next fight, Golovkin vs Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) on March 18th on HBO PPV and Canelo vs Julio Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) on May 6th on HBO PPV, there is a very high chance that Canelo vs Golovkin becomes a reality.

Boxing has been waiting for a boxer to take over the sport since Floyd “Money” Mayweather decided to hang up the gloves. Canelo and Golovkin are two fighters looking to take control of the sport and provide some much need excitement in the ring.

There are some road blocks that might stop the mega-fight from happening; one road block would be if either of the fighters, Canelo or Golovkin, were to lose their next fight. The other road block would be if Canelo’s managers make a deal to have a rematch between Canelo and Julio Chavez Jr. Let’s hope for an even sweep for Canelo and Golovkin in their next bouts.

If the mega-fight goes as planned, we should expect for a September HBO PPV fight.  No longer will we have to wait years to see the big fight i.e. Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao.

Canelo vs Golovkin fight will decide who is the best pound for pound fighter in the world.
