College Football Recap Week 2

Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson continues to show why he is the Heisman Trophy winner with an outstanding performance against North Carolina. Lamar was 25/39 for 393 yards passing, 19 rushes for 132 yards and a total of 6 touchdowns.

2nd player in FBS history to have 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in consecutive games. Lamar Jackson could make history again if he can keep up his play all season.

Maybe he takes the Heisman Trophy again this year?

Lamar Jackson and Louisville will play at home next week against the defending national champions, Clemson Tigers.

No football in Florida

Due to the massive hurricane Irma, the state of Florida has canceled all football throughout the state. The most important thing is the safety of the players and their families here in Florida. So football will take a back seat to real life issues.

Rivalry games in week 2

  1. Iowa vs Iowa State

Iowa took on Iowa State for the Cy-Hawk Trophy.

The game looked like an Iowa State victory early on, but Iowa came back late to steal the game in overtime.

This game was determined by just 3 points, but if Iowa State would have scored touchdowns instead of kick field goals, we would be congratulating Iowa State instead of Iowa.

  1. #4 Penn State vs Pitt

The Nittany Lions took care of business against their in-state rival Pittsburgh Panthers.

The stars of the game were the Penn State’s Saquan Barkley, rushing for a touchdown on 14 carries and catching one as well. Trace McSorley played well, as he threw for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns. ‘

The Lions took care of business and looks good as they set their eyes on Georgia State next week.

Business as Usual

#1 Alabama rolled again this week against the other FSU, Fresno State, 41-10. The Tide scored immediately once the offense took the field, with a 55-yard run for a touchdown by tide QB, Jalen Hurts.

Hurts is a Heisman Trophy candidate with this performance, 14/18 for 128 yards passing and 154 yards rushing for a total of 3 touchdowns on the day.

The Tide will play Colorado State next week.

#12 LSU looked really good again this week. The Tigers are favorited in almost every game this season except one, #1 Alabama. I believe that LSU will be undefeated going into that game vs Alabama.

Darrius Guice had a good game, 15 rushes for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. The LSU defense had a few take away, 3 to be exact.

LSU will have their first test of the year next week vs Mississippi State.

Oklahoma Has Swag

Baker Mayfield put on a show at the Shoe. Mayfield was 27/35 386 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Early in the game, Oklahoma and Ohio State offenses took some time to get started. The game really did not start until the second half. Mayfield stood strong in the pocket, but elusive when he needed to be. He played like a true Heisman Trophy contender.

After the game, Baker Mayfield took one of Oklahoma’s banner flags and planted it in the middle of their field.

Baker Mayfield will continue his Heisman campaign next week against Tulane.
