At the end of the 2016-2017 season, it was seen decided by most sports analyst that Sam Darnold, quarterback for the USC Trojans, was going to be the top-QB taken in the 2018 NFL Draft. Now, one year later that prediction might be up in the air.
Sam is a solid young quarterback who could very well dominate the NFL for years to come, that is if he goes to a team that has pieces in place for him to succeed. Sam Darnold is looking at being picked by the Cleveland Browns, these worst quarterback developing organization in the NFL.
Darnold has a few technical issues he needs to work on, and going to the quarterback graveyard in Cleveland is not the right situation for him.
I do believe that the recent bowl game against Ohio State helped his draft stock more that hurt it. He had one interception, but other than that, he held his own completing 26 of 45 for 356 yards passing.
But if I was Darnold I would not have played in that game. Darnold did get sacked a lot in that game, but he threw for a lot against a solid Ohio State defense. The reason I would not have played in that game would be to hurt my draft stock just a little.
It’s the best thing for Darnold. Darnold would have a better chance of becoming a great NFL quarterback with any other organization that is not named Cleveland Brown. The Browns just completed a 0-16 season.
Worst season in Cleveland Browns franchise history! @Browns I'm still a fan…wait till next year!!! pic.twitter.com/n2YW8nwU0J

That is why I truly believe Josh Rosen sat out UCLA’s bowl game. Rosen does not want to start his NFL career in Cleveland… nobody does.

If Darnold were to stay one-more-year, he would get the opportunity to polish up his mechanics, win a National Title, and get drafted by a team not named the Browns.

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. Every player has stated they like to compete and turn a bad organization around, but not too many can do it. As for the Browns, they have had so many quarterbacks attempt to change the team around, and they have all failed.
Sam don’t be another quarterback casualty for the Cleveland Browns.
