Although Miami has been given the #8 ranking in the coaches poll yesterday, could it be said that that ranking is a little too high? Miami finished last season on a 3 game losing streak and lost it two star defensive tackles, starting corner, and tight end.
Miami has huge question marks on the offensive line that has only one sure fire starter in Donaldson. On the other side of the ball, Miami will be replacing both Tackles and a starting corner. The canes have a lot of young talent that will have to grow up fast.
Based off spring practice Miami strength will be at the linebacker position, Wide receiver position, and safety. The Canes will need all the help they can get because on September 2, 2018, Miami will face #24 LSU in Dallas, Texas. This will be a neutral site game, but more like a LSU Home game. LSU returns one of the best defenses in the country from top to bottom. The Tigers, although ranked lower than the Canes, are favorites to win the season opener.
LSU will have a solid receiving core, but with a new QB at the helm, LSU will have to hope the talented offensive line can be the difference in this game.
As for Miami, they will need to get Malik Roiser going as quickly as possible if they wish to pull this game out in a LSU favored Stadium atmosphere. Miami usually doesn’t do well in Nuetral site games. Also it doesn’t help that the last time Miami played LSU, the Tigers put up 43 points on the Canes in a blow out loss for the Canes.

This year’s Miami team is really young but hungry at the same time. Miami must play smart and limit the mistakes. Malik Roiser will need to play well against the NFL caliber DBs LSU will be loaded with.
Miami should rely heavily on the defense to hold LSU to a minimum, but again, if Miami makes a mistake on defense they will surely pay a heavy price.

This game will be determined early, if Miami plays the way they played last season against Notre Dame, the Canes will win. But if they play like they did against Pitt or Virginia, the Canes will be blown out to start the season.
Remember these are the games Miami should expect to be in and compete in. This game is a measuring stick for the Canes to see if they are worthy to be in a bigger game at the end if the season. The outcome of this game will be motivation for the Canes to go undefeated, while for LSU, it will be another day at the office as they prepare for more big games like Auburn and Alabama.
