The #2 Argos Pull away late to secure the Win

We all know how last year ended for the Argos; they loss in a close battle for the DII National Title. Some say it was way too early for the Argos to be where they were last season, but this year the Argos look to finish what they started. The Argos start the 2018 football season against #22 Carson-Newman; a top 25 matchup will a lot of hype behind it for the Argos.

The Argos started early with defensive stops and quick field goals to take a quick 6-0 lead in the first. Carson-Newman would tie the game before long and take the lead before halftime.

The Argos could contribute the slow start due to an injury to starting quarterback Mike Beaudry mid-way through the 1st. Backup quarterback and Georgia transfer Sam Vaughn would come into the game to lead the Argos. After getting a few of the jitters out, Vaughn would go on to light up the sky in the second half, with 17-29 for 218 yards passing and 1 touchdown (Stats via GoArge.com). He also ran for a little as well.

The Argos could contribute this win to the performance of the defense. The Argos would force 2 force fumbles; one by Senior Johnathan Coleman and Junior linebacker Andre Duncombe. The Argos, would get 5 sacks and only allowed 14 yards through the air. The Argos defense will need to improve just a little defending the run. The Argos would allow 333 yards on the ground (Stats via GoArgo.com).

All-in-all, the Argos pulled out the first win of the 2018 season. The Argos are nowhere near perfect, but they are on their way.
