By now we have come accustomed to FCS programs upsetting FBS programs year in and year out, well at least to start the season. Last week we saw HBCU Champions, North Carolina A&T upset ECU on ECU home turf. That make 3 years consecutive that the Aggies have pulled the upset.
Now this week it is Howard’s turn. Howard in 2017 beat UNLV in Los Vegas. It was the biggest point-spread upset in college football history. Howard boast an pretty good quarterback who has a pretty good roll model to follow; Cam Newton’s little brother, Caylin Newton, is their QB. Newton put on a show in Vegas, which ended up as a huge win on and off the field for the Bison. The Bison also received $600,000 for agreeing to play UNLV.

This year Howard will face Kent State. The Golden Flashes will not be over looking the Bison like UNLV did last year. Last week, the bison almost took down the Ohio Bobcats in Ohio. The Bison came up short in a 38-32 loss. Newton was 26/52 for 439 yards 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the upset bid last week.
I have this game pinned as the SportsHungry Upset Game of the week. Kent State is not the best FBS football school. Last week they loss to Illinois, which is also not a great football team this year. Kent State will have to come with their A-game if they want to win this one. Kent State managed to get only 453 yards of total offense, while Newton almost matched that by himself.

Mike London, the former Virginia Cavaliers and Richmond Spiders, head coach has returned to the FCS level, but this time with history on his side. Howard is one the most prestigious HBCU university in the country; celebrating 125 years as a school. Mike London is a defensive minded head coach, and we should expect the defense to be well prepared.
