Alabama State up 14-7 vs Texas Southern. So far in the first half we have seen 3 players get ejected for targeting calls. two from Texas Southern and one from Alabama State. Texas Southern has moved the ball well only to be stopped by 2 interceptions to Alabama State DB, Joshua Hill. Hill had the early Pick-6 to put ASU up early in this SWAC football contest.

Texas Southern
Devin Williams, TSU QB, has thrown 2 interceptions, but he has looked good as a dual threat quarterback. Both interceptions were not bad decisions, but good plays made by Joshua Hill. The quarterback draw has worked well for Texas Southern. Brad Woodard for Texas Southern had the only touchdown for the Tigers. The Tiger defense also forced 2 interceptions as well.
Keys to the Second Half:
- Protect the football, again Texas southern has played well on offense except for two turnovers.
- Blocking n needs to improve so this quarterback can make the offense go.
- Continue with the QB draw.
Alabama State
The Hornets Defense has been the difference in this game. The secondary has played lights out so far. The Hornets front seven needs to get pressure on this quarterback, and the Hornets need to have a linebacker spy on this quarterback. Texas Southern has moved the ball well on the ground, and could be the huge difference in the second half.
Keys to the Second Half:
- Protect the quarterback. Alabama State Quarterback has thrown the ball well so far. He did throw an 2 interception, but besides those two misses, KHA’Darris Davis has looked good. He has to use his legs more. If he gets one dimensional, Texas Southern will stop him.
- Stop the Texas Southern quarterback draw at all times. Devin Williams has been dangerous with his legs, and after a slow start to the game, he has opened up and tossed some beautiful passes to Bobby Hartzog.
- Continue to throw the screen pass. The defense for Texas Southern has not stopped it yet.
