SEC Championship: #1 Alabama vs #4 Georgia

The rematch is set, the teams are ready, the stage is set, everything else goes out the window this Saturday at 4 pm eastern standard time. #1 Alabama will take on #4 Georgia for the SEC Championship crown, and a chance to play in the college football playoffs.

We all remember the epic call made by Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban; he decided to put in true freshman, Tua Tagovailoa, for 26-2 sophomore quarterback, Jalen Hurts. This call would change the game forever. Georgia went up 13-0 by halftime, destroying Alabama’s passing game and forcing Alabama to be one dimensional. Going into halftime, we all wonder what adjustments would the greatest head coach in all of college football history would do in this situation.

As the two teams emerged from the depths of the locker room, Alabama had decided to put in Tua. Tua was talented, but how talented was he. Was he good enough to bring the Alabama Crimson Tide back from a 13 point deficit in the biggest game of the year. If he could bring Alabama back, he would go down in Alabama and college football history.

So once the game began again, Tua went to work. Alabama had put in a few other freshmen that would play a huge role in the comeback and the 2018 season. Jerry Judy, the 5-star receiver from the 2017 recruiting class, had one catch for 20 yards. Devonta smith caught the game winning touchdown. Najee Harris would come in as a relief running back, for Bo Scarbrough. The offensive line also got help from a freshman beast, Alex Leatherwood.

Alabama would comeback and take Georgia into overtime. This game had every Georgia fan thinking about what happened to the Atlanta Falcons in the 2017 Super Bowl against the Patriots, when Tom Brady lead an epic comeback down 28-3. It was the greatest comeback in NFL history. So seeing Tua step up and do the same in Atlanta, Georgia was astounding.

Now as we fast forward to the SEC Championship game, Tua comes in as the undisputed starting quarterback with Jalen Hurts backing him up. With the SEC Championship and College Football Playoffs on the line, the stage for this epic game has been set in Atlanta, Georgia once again.

Georgia comes into this match up with an experienced Jake Fromm and a running game that is second to none. The Georgia defense is a little different, but still strong. Alabama has not faced a defense and offense like Georgia since LSU, and the Tide put up 29 points on that solid defense in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Georgia played LSU and loss 36-16. Since that unfortunate loss, Georgia has rebounded and played exceptionally well.

My prediction for this rematch is

#1 Alabama: 35

#4 Georgia: 21
