The Mandarin Mustangs win their first State Championship

A day after Raines High School secured their 3rd state championship and their 2nd championship in two years, the Mandarin Mustangs have finally won one of their own. Mandarin becomes just the second Duval Public School to win the state championship.

Mandarin won on the back of their Quarterback and Alabama commit Carson Beck. The Mustangs were very efficient in their victory over Columbus (Miami). The Alabama commit threw 5 touchdowns and 300+ yards through the air. Demario Douglas was the recipient of four of those touchdown passes.

Columbus (Miami) were also playing for their first state championship too. Mandarin had loss only 4 games all season, and in those losses they played quality programs like the Raines Vikings who won the 4A state championship on Friday.

Columbus fought back in the second half, but they were too far down to complete the come back. Carson Beck for Mandarin is only a Junior (MaxPrep), and will be prime for a solid senior year campaign. Mandarin will lose many of their go to players due to graduation, but all-in-all what a season for the Mandarin Mustangs.
