The first ever 2020 recruiting class profile will be on Deerfield Beach high school quarterback Derohn King. King come in at 6’1 179 lbs (247sports). That measurement might be dated, because the highlight videos on Hudi makes him look taller and much bigger.
King is a duel-threat quarterback with a big arm. Most of the throws were deep ball passes to some solid receivers. His deep ball accuracy was on display prominently. He never seemed to be out of place at all when putting the ball in the air. King has multiple offers which include the Florida Gators and the UCF Knights.
What I believe that would help his game and evaluation of his game will be the development of the play calling. Because he has such a great deep ball, I would love to see the coaches call plays utilizing his short to mid-range accuracy. He is listed as a pocket passer, but he is a duel threat QB who has an amazing arm. He should be one of the top Florida QBs in the 2020 class because he is versatile. I would think he would fit well in the system the Florida State Seminoles have implemented with Kendall Biles as the offensive coordinator.
Deerfield Beach is very lucky to have such a versatile and dynamic quarterback who chooses to pass the ball instead of run every down. Deerfield came up short in the 2018 Florida Playoffs, but with the talented wide receivers and Derohn King under center, the Bucks should be a force to win the state championship!
