The cat was out the bag when Kevin Durant stepped on the court during team shoot arounds before the start of Game 5.
Kevin added an extra factor to the game. Starting the game 3-3 from the 3 point line. Steph Curry also started off hot in the first quarter with 14 quick points, and 23 pts at the end of the first half.
But with just a minute or two inside the 2nd quarter, Kevin Durant went down grabbing the same achilles he reached for two series ago against the Houston Rockets.
The Raptors fan base cheered with happiness as the 7’0 beast in Durant went down. Smh, but that’s sports for you.
While Kawhi Leonard had a slow start, Marc Gasol cane out with 15 pts and 4 rebounds in the first half. He had two 3 pt shots go in early. In these NBA Finals, games like the one Gasol is playing is huge.
The Raptors are a very veteran team, that never folded under pressure in these finals at all. The moment Durant went down, the momentum flipped like a light switch.
The Raptors quickly smelled blood in the air and started to attack the Warriors. It also did not help that the Warriors were playing the refs as well.
The big playmaker for the Warriors was Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Klay was good from deep all game, and Draymond pushed the tempo for the Warriors. Draymond also had 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The big 3 for the Warriors really turned it on in game 5.
The Warriors biggest lead was 13 pts in the 3rd quarter, but after that, the Raptors poured it on. They dropped 3’s and played physical defense. The Raptors looked like the Pistons when they played the Lakers in 2004.
This game came down to the wire. Kawhi had 26 pts, and 12 rebounds, BUT the Warriors came through with a 1 pt win over the Raptors.
