Former Texas head coach Charlie Strong finalizing deal to join the Miami Hurricanes

Miami’s new head coach Mario Cristobal continues to make head way in building his coaching staff. The most recent reports are that former Texas and Louisville head coach Charlie Strong is expected to join Mario is Miami.

Charlie Strong spent last season as the Linebackers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but after Urban Myer was let go for performance and conduct, the Jaguars cleaned house. Coach Strong will be taking over the same position in Miami.

At 61, Strong has a solid history of being a great recruiter and developer of talent. Strong as recruiting ties to the South Florida area. He spent time as the defensive coordinator of the 2006 and 2008 national championship Florida Gators teams.

Miami’s linebacking core is seen as possibly the weakest group on the team. There’s a lot of talent at the position, but the previous regime could not develop that group properly. This will give Strong the opportunity to have a on-field assistant coaching position since his time at Florida.

With that being said, Mario continues to turn heads with his hires and looks to be building into the right direction. Come September, we will get to see all the hard work put in to build this staff and remake the Miami hurricanes.
