Kyrie Irving traded to the Dallas Mavs

Kyrie Irving

In a very out of the blue moment, Kyrie Irving requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets before the trade deadline. After a crazy start to the season, Irving and the Nets seemed to be on the same page.

However, that wasn’t the case at all. Irving’s request sent shockwaves throughout the NBA and teams like the Lakers scrambling to create a trade package. Unfortunately, the Lakers and the rest of the league were to late.

The Mavericks decided to trade Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dwiddle, a 2027 1st-round and 2nd-round picks, and 2029 unprotected 1st-round and 2nd-round picks to the Nets. The Nets will send Kyrie Irving and Markieff Morris to Dallas.

The speculation now begins as we turn to Kevin Durant to see what will his next move be. Without Kyrie, I highly doubt that the Nets will be able to beat the Boston Celtics or Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs 4-times out of 7.

As for the Mavs, the addition gives them another Superstar. However, it’s yet to be known how the Mavs are planning on using Kyrie. My best guess it that he will move to the 2 spot and Luka Dončić will stay at the point.

Either way, the Mavs are attempting to make a serious run for a NBA Title. So, if a title comes from this trade then it would be all worth it.
