NFL suspends 4 Lions players for betting

Jameson Williams Detroit Lions Wide Receiver

The NFL handed down 4 suspensions to a few Detroit Lions players including former first-round wide receiver Jameson Williams.

Following a league investigation, the league found these four players were violating the NFL’s gambling policy by betting on games. Wide receivers Quintez Cephus, Stanley Berryhill, and safety C.J. Moore were also suspended.

Last year, former Atlanta Falcon number 1 receiver Calvin Ridley sat out all last season due to a gambling suspension. The NFL takes these rules seriously.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see what Jameson Williams can do on the field, again. He was still dealing with a major leg injury from his time in college.

However, the loss of Jameson will not drop the expectations the league has for the Detroit Lions this year. Willams will be out for the first 5 games of the season.

Ultimately, the Lions decided to part ways with Quintez and C.j. As for Williams and Berryhill, the Lions will be working to educate them on the seriousness of their actions.

The league’s gambling policy states that NFL player and personnel cannot bet on NFL games or any league related activity.
