2023 NFL Draft Surprise: Levis free falls out the 1st round

2023 NFL Draft

In the NFL Draft, there’s not too many losers only surprises. A few teams made choices that aligned with what we expected, while a few did something that made zero sense.

Also, we saw a few players get picked up really early and some that dropped all the way out of the 1st round.

Needless to say, the NFL Draft 1st round needs a complete recap of the most shocking picks and drops.

Will Levis falls out the 1st Round

Not surprising to me, but for some this fall from the first could be a shock.

Levis is one of the best quarterback prospects to come out of Kentucky is a very long time. However, Levis was in a do or die situation coming into the draft. Either he had to be chosen within the top 5 or fall completely out of the 1st.

When the Colts selected Anthony Richardson with the #4 pick in the NFL Draft, his fall was expected. No other team needed to draft a project quarterback, which is exactly what Levis film displayed. A quarterback that needs to develop more in the decision making department.

We’re there other teams that could have used picked Levis, yes! But, he wasn’t a pressing need in the 1st for those later picking teams. His best bet was for the Vikings or Lions to be looking for a quarterback for the future.

Although, that still could happen, I don’t see where wasting a 1st round pick on a quarterback no other team needs as a smart option.

Honestly, Levis could fall to the middle of the second round.

Ravens get Zay Flowers

Maybe the best value pick at any skill position in the 1st round. Flowers brings a quick explosive element to an offense that’s in need of weapons.

Obviously, Flowers gives us all a feeling of another Deebo Samuel. A gadget receiver that can make plays on his on in space. He will most likely be the #3 receiver in the Ravens offense this year, but as his career progresses he might be #1.

In less than 24 hours, the Ravens went from questionable to a secured future.

Jaguars trade back for a tackle!

Well, this was probably not the original choice the Jacksonville Jaguars we’re going for when they were walking into the Draft this morning. However, with the news of starting Tackle Cam Robinson being suspended for a few games, this was pro the logical pick.

The Jags trade back twice from 24 to 25 to 27 in the 1st to stack up picks for later rounds. Seeing that most of the NFL is made up of the 3rd through 5th round picks anyway. There’s a lot of value in this draft.

Needless to say, it would have been nice to see the Jags take Linebacker Nolan Smith out of a Georgia, or defensive end Myles Murphy out of Clemson. Two players that were draft right after the Jags picked at 27.

The Philadelphia Bulldogs

If it wasn’t obvious before maybe it it now, the Eagles love Georgia Bulldog defenders. Last year’s NFL Draft, the Eagles added Defensive Tackle Jordan Davis and Linebacker Nakobe Dean.

Fast forward to 2023, the Eagles add Defensive Tackle Jalen Carter and Linebacker Nolan Smith. These four players were essential in the Bulldogs back-to-back National Championship.

With that being said, there’s still a few Dogs out there that are looking for a good home. Maybe the Eagles add to their pound.
