NFL Training Camp: The Buccaneers Set Sail

Tampa Bay Buccaneers begin training camp

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers open up training camp next Sunday, July 30th. The post Tom Brady era has truly begun.

Last year, the Buccaneers finished with an 8-9 record, but made the playoffs. Unlike the last few years with Brady, the Buccaneers are putting their faith in a few unproven quarterbacks.

Former number 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield comes over from his small stint with the LA Rams. He’s in competition with Kyle Trask. The former third round pick out of University of Florida.

Needless to say, this year could be a very important year. The Buccaneers can take two different routes for success. The first route is to win with the quarterbacks they have and fall out of contention for the number 1 overall pick.

The #1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is almost a lock to be USC quarterback Caleb Williams. Scouts project him to be the next Patrick Mahomes.

However, the second route would be to tank for Williams. The Bucs could find themselves picking 1st in the 2024 Draft and secure their long-term future. Both routes won’t feel good as during the year, but the end result for 1 might feel better than the other.

Tampa Bay camp runs through Monday, August 14th.
