Morehouse is stunned by Albany State

After what looked like was going to be a close game after the slow first quarter start for both teams, Albany State Golden Rams took control of the game early. Albany State won 41-19

Morehouse offense stalled early and often in this game which did not allow the defense to get any rest. Mike Sims for Morehouse could not find a rhythm all game, and the Albany State defense capitalized. He was 16-33 for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns passing. The Albany State secondary picked off Sims on the first drive of the game. After that interception, Albany State defense locked the Maroon Tigers Receivers down for most of the game.

Hats off to Albany State. The Golden Rams QB, Kelias Williams controlled the game as a runner and passer, 16-18 for 254 yards passing and 1 touchdown pass. On the ground he had 10 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. The Golden Rams offense moved easily through the Maroon Tigers defense at will. Their offense was so balanced, it was hard to know what they were going to do on the next play. The Golden Rams run their offense majority out of the Pistol formation, utilizing the RPO (Run, Pass, Option) play style.

Tracy Scott and McKin Habersham was the other dynamic threat for the Golden Rams. they ran hard and often through the Maroon Tigers defense for a total of 115 yards and 1 touchdown. I expect Albany State to take this win as momentum to the rest of the season.

As for Morehouse, this is their first loss of the season. It will be interesting to see what happens with this season after this loss. Morehouse came out flat, and it hurt them all game. Morehouse needed to get the ball to their dynamic play maker Santo Dunn, but that was not the case.

Morehouse has too many athletes on their team to let this loss set them back. Morehouse will play Benedict College next week. Benedict is coming off a close win over Clark Atlanta . At 5-1, Benedict will be a good test for Morehouse and must win if they hope to stay in the race for the SIAC Conference Championship.Benedict is undefeated in conference play, and a loss to Benedict could knock Morehouse out of the race completely.
