Finally, one of the oldest stadiums in the NFL is coming to an end. The home of the Buffalo Bills, Highpark stadium has been the home of the Bills for 50 years.
For years, the Bills and the NFL have been working with the city of Buffalo, NY to approve the construction of a new stadium. Buffalo, NY becomes a harsh place to play in the later months of the season.
Although, the cold weather is usually a great home environment, that weather does not draw a Super Bowl. With the construction of the new stadium, it is more than likely the NFL will schedule a Super Bowl there in the near future.
The Bills Executive Vice President and COO, Ron Raccuia stated that there’s no more paper work needing to be done. Stating that construction on the new home will start immediately.
All parties involved believed that the deal could be made this spring, and that is exactly what happened. Major construction on the venue will begin in June.
Furthermore, the Stadium will be built across from their current home, Highpark.
Oldest NFL Stadiums
Currently, the oldest NFL Stadiums are Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. It’s important to note that the Chicago Bears are getting a new stadium as well.
